Bible Reading Plan
One Church.
One Bible. One Journey.
What might happen if our entire church spent a year reading the Bible together?
Beginning January 1, 2027, Lakes Free Church is inviting our church family to follow the same daily Bible reading plan using a modified version of Robert Murray M’Cheyne’s reading plan. Our hope is to grow together as we encounter God’s Word, ask questions, encourage one another, and allow Scripture to shape our lives.
This is about more than checking off daily readings or gaining Bible knowledge. It’s about becoming a church that is grounded in truth, growing in grace, and going in faith. As we read Scripture together, we can deepen our relationship with Christ, grow in our understanding of God’s Word, and be equipped to share the gospel and make disciples.
How It Works
One Church. Everyone who participates follows the same daily reading plan, starting January 1, 2027.
One Bible. We’ll use the YouVersion Bible App to follow a modified M’Cheyne reading plan that provides a manageable path through Scripture over the course of the year. Participants will need to download the free YouVersion Bible App on their phone or device.
One Journey. We encourage everyone to connect with others who are reading the same passages through Bible-reading circles of approximately 8–12 people. Group leaders will invite participants to join their group through the YouVersion Bible App, making it easier to follow along and share in the experience together. Groupings may be formed based on existing existing ABFs, small groups, men’s or women’s groups, or new groups for those looking to connect.
These circles aren’t intended to be another Bible study or a place where everyone needs to have the right answers. They’re an opportunity to learn together and make space for honest conversation.
What Will Our Conversations Look Like?
As we read, we can share what stood out, what we’re learning, what we don’t understand, and how God’s Word is shaping our lives. A simple framework can help get the conversation started:
I noticed… Something that caught my attention.
I learned… Something I understand better.
I wonder… Something I have questions about.
I want to pray… Something from the reading that led me to prayer.
There’s no expectation to share every day or come with profound insights. We want to create a culture where we can learn from one another, encourage one another, and comfortably ask, “I don’t understand this passage. What do you think?”
A Shared Practice. A Greater Purpose.
Reading Scripture together is not the destination. It’s part of the pathway toward our mission: to glorify God by making healthy multiplying disciples who will work together to reach the world for Jesus Christ.
As we spend time in God’s Word, we want to grow in truth, be transformed by His grace, and be equipped to live out our faith. This simple, shared practice is an opportunity for our whole church to take another step toward the vision God has given us.
Let’s open God’s Word together in 2027 and see how He uses it to grow us as individuals and as a church.
