these? He who brings out the starry host one by
one, and calls them each by
name. Because of his great
power and mighty strength not one of them is
missing.

|
- ~ Tom Kraeuter ~
- “Here’s a regrettable fact:
In our society, once we’ve done something once or twice it becomes old hat to us. Our usual reaction today to
practically anything in life is, ‘Been there, done that.’
|
|
15
|
- “We’re always looking for a product that is ‘new and improved.’ Last year’s model is not good enough for us. Too often, we’re bored unless we have something brand-new with the latest bells and
whistles.”

- (Psalm 95:6)
- Come, let us bow down in
worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our
God and
we are the people of his pasture, the
flock under his care.

|
24
|
- Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah
in the desert, where
your fathers tested
and tried me, though they had
seen what I
did.
|
|
25
|
- For forty years I was angry
with this generation: I said: “They are a
people whose hearts go
astray, and they have not known my
ways.” So I declared
on oath in my
anger,
“They shall never enter my rest.”
|

26
|
- Exodus 17:1-7
- The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling
from place to place as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was not water for the people to drink.
|
|
27
|
- Exodus 17:1-7
- So they quarreled with Moses and
said,
“Give us water to drink.”
Moses replied, “Why do you
quarrel with me? Why do you put
the LORD to the
test?”
|
|
28
|
- Exodus 17:1-7
- But the people were thirsty
for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our
children and our livestock die
of thirst?”
|
|
29
|
- Exodus 17:1-7
- Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What am I to
do with these
people?
They are almost ready to stone me.”
|
|
30
|
- Exodus 17:1-7
- The LORD answered Moses, “Walk on
ahead of the people. Take with
you some of the elders of
Israel and take in your
hand the staff with which you
struck the Nile, and go.
I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and
water will come out of it
for the people to drink.”
|
|
31
|
- Exodus 17:1-7
- So Moses did this in the sight
of the elders of Israel. And he called the
place Massah and
Meribah because the
Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, “Is the LORD among
us or not?”
|
|
32
|
- Massah & Meribah ~
- Symbols of
- hard-heartedness
|
|
33
|
- It is one thing to
praise God for His greatness; it is quite
another thing to trust
God’s greatness
when faced with the very real dangers
of life.
|
|
34
|
- It is relatively EASY to
worship God with our lips. It is quite another
thing to
worship God with our lives.
- In short, worship
without obedience is a sham.
|
|
35
|
- Isaiah 29:13
- These people come near
to me with their mouth and honor me with
their lips, but their
hearts are
far from me.
|
|
36
|
- So, how do we keep our
faith alive? How do we keep
our hearts tender and soft before our God? How
do we worship
with not only our lips, but also with
our lives?
|
|
37
|
- Come, let us bow down
in worship. Let us
kneel before
the LORD our Maker. For He is the great
God, the great King
above all gods.
