Our assignment as parents is to transform our children from out of control toddlers into godly young men and women, who will love their spouse, be faithful in marriage, are keepers of commitments, strong leaders, good workers and dedicated followers of Jesus Christ.

I. One of the primary ways we influence our children is by teaching.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”  Deuteronomy 6:4-9

“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives tales; rather train yourself to be godly.  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”                        I Timothy 4:7-8
